As part of our anniversary celebration, we decided to make a trip to Pittsburgh after the family reunion. We got in to Pittsburgh and headed straight for the Pirates game.
We had a great time cheering on the Bucco's! I guess Noah wasn't too impressed with his first professional baseball game, he fell asleep!
And of course, my favorite part of every Pirates game is the Pierogie Race!!!
After Noah woke up we walked around the stadium a little bit. If you've never been to PNC Park, it is beautiful! Here is Noah with a baseball bat statue...I love the way he's holding the bat!
Outside the stadium, we had to make sure to get a photo of Noah with the Roberto Clemente statue. Roberto Clemente is my dad's favorite baseball player of all time, so I knew he would love it!
After the baseball game, we headed out into the city for some pirogies and pizza! It was delicious! Here are Dan and I across from the stadium. It was a great way to celebrate 5 years of marriage!
On Monday, we woke up and headed to Peters Township where I grew up (about 30 minutes outside the city). We had to hit up all my favorite spots in just a few short hours. First stop was Simmons Farm. We had to stop in for some fresh corn on the cob. I definitely took for granted having a farm right up the street and delicious corn on the cob whenever we wanted. North Carolina corn just doesn't compare! We stopped by the petting zoo first, but the sheep were very loud and a little scary to Noah. He much preferred trying to husk some corn!
After that we headed to my friend Amanda's house (AKA Simmy) to hang out with her for the day. And of course we had to go to Sarris Candy - it's only the greatest candy store on earth!! Here are Noah and I in front of the chocolate castle. We couldn't get Noah to look at the camera because he was so entranced by the merry-go-round! Pretty amazing that this entire thing is made out of candy!
This mural is painted on the ceiling - very colorful and pretty.
Here are the 3 of us - thanks for hanging out with us for the day Simmy!!
It was such a short visit, but I loved every minute! Pittsburgh will always hold a special place in my heart!
